Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam.

In the Quran (2:227) it is said:

Lo those who believe and do good deeds and establish Salah and pay Zakah, their reward is with the Sustainer; and no fear shall come on them, nor shall they grieve.'

Zakah, is derived from the verb zaka, (which signifies "to thrive," "to be wholesome, "to be pure") means purification. Giving up of a portion of the wealth one may possess in excess of what is needed for sustenance is to "purify" or legalize it so that the remainder may lawfully be used by the alms giver. This rotation of wealth is a way to balance social and economic inequalities.

Zakah in spirit is an act of worship, an act of service to humanity; the social services of the fortunate ones for the less fortunate. Its importance is understood by the fact that the Qur'an treats it at par with salat (prayer).

The Qur'an (9:60) stipulates the eight (8) specific uses of Zakah within the community:

'The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and for those employed in connection therewith, and for those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and for the freeing of slaves, and for those in debt, and for the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer'

At Bin Qutab Foundation, we spent your Zakah on the following:

  • Fuqara are the poor, Bin Qutab Foundation uses your Zakat to provide for their needs related to sustenance or for the provision medical health care.
  •

  • Masakeen are better off than the Fuqara since they have the ability to find a certain percentage of what will suffice them or more.
  • Aamileen are the people who collect Zakah to distribute it to those who deserve. Bin Qutab Foundation uses the fund to pay for those employees only who collect and administer the Zakat.
  •

  • Muallafat ul Quloob are those who are sympathetic towards Islam and/or wish to enter Islam. We do not have access towards this category at the moment, but would provide support only if we are able to ascertain the fact that the person is not being forced towards Islam or is coming towards the religion temporarily for the use of money only and with due permission from the donor.
  • To free a person from slavery. We do not have access towards this category at the moment, but would provide support only if we are able to verify the case and with due permission from the donor.
  •

  • Those in Debt. We do not have access towards this category at the moment, but would provide support only if we are able to verify the case and with due permission from the donor.
  • Fi Sabeelillah: For those who are away from home in the path of Allah. We do not have access towards this category at the moment, but would provide support only if we are able to verify the case and with due permission from the donor.
  •

Zakah must be paid on gold, silver, merchandise for owned businesses, cash in bank account, cattle and crops. You must pay Zakah on the items listed above if they have been in your possession for a year. You do not have to pay it on your personal items that do not bring you wealth, such as your vehicles, clothes, shelter or food.
Bin Qutab Foundation dedicates Zakat to helping orphans, widows and the elderly, your donation in this context will most probably go towards supporting these people through donations of food, water, shelter, medication or clothing.

    About Begum Noor Memorial Hospital

Begum Noor Memorial Hospital, Bhubhar, Chakwal- Pakistan (1st Phase 50 – Beds)

Major population of Pakistan (about 70%) lives in underdeveloped rural areas where medical facilities are scarce. Because of budgetary constraints, the Government cannot afford to allocate more funds to the rural health sector. For getting lifesaving treatment, seriously ill patients and emergency cases are compelled to travel to cities which some time are few Hundred Kilometers away from their villages. Despite heavy expenditure, the poor patients mostly die en-route during journey.

Another fact is that these poorest of the poor do live a life of poverty. As per various Surveys done by various organizations, around One Third of the Population in Pakistan are living under the Poverty Line.

Therefore Emergency Medical Health Budget is just of out of question in their Life. They have no option but to compromise living with the diseases.

    Message From Founder & Chairman

Assalamalaikum wa Rahmatullah hee Wa Barakatahu..

Pakistan has been facing a severe problem in providing health services to its masses; at a rapid pace it is decreasing the standard of life, especially among the poverty struck, especially those dwelling in rural areas. BQF and through its project – Begum Noor Memorial Hospital - is striving to provide quality services to the patients in need and at the same time are focusing on building the capacities of its human resources and at the facility. Your support over the years has helped us to come this far.The hospital opened its doors on 23rd March 2016, ALHAMDULILAH.

Since then, we have been able to treat over 25,000 patients who were suffering from various ailments. At the hospital, anybody who walks in is to be treated, notwithstanding his or her ability to pay. The poor and the needy segment of the society can access the health facilities free of charge and those belonging to better income groups receive treatment on subsidized rates. Due to your support, we are providing services in the fields of Dental Care, Dermatology, ENT, Eye, Gynecology, General Surgery and Gastroenterology. The patients have access to quality diagnostic services – includes Eye Diagnostic Services, Ultrasound, ECG, X-Ray and Laboratory Service. The patients have access to minor OT facilities. Apart from that we are also facilitating the patients through ambulance service and a shuttle service facilitating patients to come to the hospital from far flung areas.
